The APS ‘EDC’ Upgrade Kit takes your FLEX PXE 80 to the next level, making previously impossible polishing areas easily accessible. No more struggling with factory limitations—this kit extends the distance of your backing plate from the drive unit in rotary mode, is far more precise, and improves control, so you get flawless correction work in tight spaces.
I see these pieces bring improved function to two sides of the work.
You'll also see less measurably less vibration during operation with the 2" and 3" backing plates, giving you better stability and pad to surface contact.
Reach What Factory Parts Can’t: The FX50 extension and metal-core backing plates allow you to polish deep recesses, intricate wheel designs, and tricky panel gaps effortlessly
Better Durability & Comfort: Unlike factory plastic backing plates, APS’s metal-core plates with poly shield edges reduce vibration, improve edge protection, and are more durable
Perfect for Precision Work: Tackle areas around glass, gaskets, door cups, and tight panel gaps with confidence. The FXA50 extension even lets you use spindle-type polishing cones for a machine-polished finish where hand polishing falls short
Eliminate Machine Rattle: The included replacement dampers restore smooth operation by fixing the rattle that develops over time
What You Should AVOID:
I have to say it...Using an extension with a DA drive is not one bit smart. Over speed 2, the wobble of the extension and backing plate displays how bad of an idea it is. This is an ineffective polishing method on paint and will shorten the lifespan of all of the attached parts and maybe the machine as well. I give this advisement because I have seen these parts used incorrectly by customers. Extensions are for rotary mode.
The improper use of parts is a user problem. Modification of parts to be used in a way against intentional design elements (removing the pin on an FX50 extension to adapt a 3" backing plate) is user liability, and has nothing to do with the description found here, or the quality of APS pieces. Such modifications are beyond the mechanical and electrical capacity of the PXE80 itself.
These parts were designed by APS Germany in conjunction with FLEX engineers. These are the only 'aftermarket' pieces tested by FLEX that meet the standard and capacities of their tools.
